Oli for Anki does not collect, sell, or send your data to our servers.
- no account or sign-in,
- no ads, analytics, or trackers,
- no deck or card-content sync to our servers,
- the connection is local: your iPhone connects to your own computer running Anki.
What the app connects to
The app communicates with the Oli for Anki desktop add-on running inside Anki Desktop on your computer. The connection works on your local network, such as home Wi-Fi or your iPhone Personal Hotspot. We do not operate a relay server, user accounts, or a backend that receives your review data.
Camera
Camera access is used only to scan the QR code shown by Anki on your computer. Camera frames are not saved, used for marketing, or sent off your phone.
Local network
iOS may ask for permission to access your local network. This permission is needed so your iPhone can connect to your computer and control the active Anki review session.
What is stored on your phone
The app stores only what is needed to reconnect to your computer: host, port, computer name, app settings, and an access token. The token is stored in the iOS Keychain. You can remove pairing data in the app by disconnecting from the computer.
Card and deck data
The app does not copy or sync your flashcard content, decks, or study history to our servers. Your phone receives only the current local state needed to display the remote and send actions such as revealing an answer or grading a card.
